Northglade Montessori set a new fundraising record with their annual Fun Run this year, raising more than $8,500! The PTO has been putting on the Fun Run for many years and has been doing so much more consistently for the last five to six years. This year’s event raised more than four times the amount the PTO raised prior to the pandemic, and $1,500 more than last year’s record! This is only possible because of the generosity of the Northglade Montessori families, the support from the Northglade teachers and staff, and the tremendous effort and school pride of the students.
The funds from the Fun Run have gone to support a new gaga pit, the Northglade garden, indoor and outdoor recess activities. This year’s funds will help support a mural project, the Peace Path, teacher grants and more!
The Fun Run is an afternoon event where students wear their Northglade Rocks T-shirts and run around the huge back field at the school. Families come out to decorate the course with flags, create a balloon arch finish line, volunteer to be the starter, cheer along the course and help pass out snacks and water at the end. A parent and local race emcee, Rob Lillie, of Lillie Inspired, warms up the kids with stretches and words of encouragement and gets them ready to take the course. The event itself does not last all that long, but the pride and excitement it generates lasts throughout the year.
