Northeastern Elementary School is a community-based resource center for teaching and learning. We serve pre-school aged children to fifth graders. We dedicate our efforts to meeting the individual needs of all of our students and have worked to make our school a complete community-based resource center.
Northeastern Elementary is a vibrant PEEP through fifth-grade school. Full-day PEEP (a Great Start Readiness preschool program for 4 year olds) and full-day kindergarten are provided at Northeastern. Northeastern has a one-to-one ratio of computers to students and children are immersed in technology daily. Third through fifth graders enjoy going to the YMCA’s Sherman Lake Camp each year.
The school partners with The Boys & Girls Club of Greater Kalamazoo, offering students four days a week of after-school programming. We house a satellite Michigan Department of Health and Human Services office in our building, which serves the Eastside community. The Kalamazoo Loaves & Fishes food pantry in the school can be accessed by all Northeastern families. Through our partnership with Western Michigan University occupational therapy interns and medical school interns we provide college students with hands-on experiences in the field of health care and extra support for our students. Eastside Youth Strong supports children and families through specialized programming and mentoring. Communities In Schools of Kalamazoo is a strong force in helping Northeastern meet the needs of the school community by providing, tutoring, school supplies, winter clothing, Mobile Dental Clinic and Mobile Health Clinic.
