Transportation
Transportation is available to students enrolled in the school in their attendance area or a magnet school, and who live more than one mile from school. Students eligible for bus transportation will receive bus stop information in August by U.S. Postal Service mail. Students should be at the bus stop 10 minutes prior to the scheduled bus pick-up time. During the first few weeks of school, you should plan on buses running off schedule due to the addition and deletion of bus stops, traffic, and student loads.
To help ensure a safe ride to school on the bus, students should:
-
Enter and leave the bus only at the front door except in the case of emergency and at the direction of the driver.
-
Remain seated while the bus is in motion.
-
Follow the instructions of the driver.
-
Avoid unnecessary noise.
Your child’s first and last name and phone number should be on his or her backpack. This will make it possible for us to contact the parent/guardian, if needed. Parents/guardians of PEEP students are required to help their children board the bus and to meet their children at the designated stop on the return trip. Other security measures for PEEP students will be shared with you upon enrollment. We do not require parents to be present when buses drop off kindergarteners. However, we do ask that parent/guardian or daycare providers meet the kindergarteners at the bus stop, if possible, during the first two weeks of school to help them learn their route. A transportation informational packet can be obtained from your child’s school.
