Board of Education
The Board of Education is the governing body for KPS and is comprised of seven elected members.
The board enacts policy; performs appraisals of policies and procedures; approves provisions of financial resources; hires and supervises the superintendent; maintains public relations; and collaborates with the superintendent to identify methods for improving educational programs and district operations, to work with elected officials and community organizations on mutually beneficial partnerships, and to address issues potentially impacting the KPS community.
Board members are elected to six-year terms during even numbered years in November on a rotating basis. Officers are selected by the members at their first meeting every January. If a someone is appointed to a board seat they must run for office during the first election after the appointment. Terms begin on January 1 following a November election.
