Dear King-Westwood Jaguar Families,
Kindergarten Orientation is this Wednesday. We are looking forward to meeting all our new friends who will come to kindergarten in the fall. If you know of a friend or neighbor who has a child who is of kindergarten age, please encourage them to call us or stop by to get information about enrolling for kindergarten at King- Westwood. These children will be graduating as the Class of 2029. WOW! Those years fly by, don’t they? The good news is that everyone is in it together and we are all working together for the success of all of our students. The Kalamazoo Promise will be there for these kindergarten students to take advantage of upon their graduation from high school. In our College-Going Culture, students have a school support system to ensure success from birth to graduation and beyond!
Parent-Teacher Conferences are also right around the corner on March 28 and 30. If you haven’t returned your conference note to your child’s teacher, please send it back as soon as possible. After spring break we only have about 10 weeks of school left in the school year. These 10 weeks are just as important, if not more important, than the first 10 weeks of school. There are many important lessons, concepts, and skills yet to be taught and learned. This is a great time for you to start making plans for your child(ren)’s summer activities. There are many opportunities in the Kalamazoo area for our students and many of them are FREE! Please check out the flyers and other information that have been and will be
coming home in the weeks ahead. Keep your child(ren) engaged in learning and reading this summer!
As we head into the last marking period of the school year, please take time at home to review the expectations for positive and appropriate behavior at school that are attached to this newsletter. It takes all of us working together to help children to understand and follow the behavior expectations for school. We want all our students to end the school year on a positive note! Thank you!
I will be hosting a Parent-Principal Coffee on Thursday, March 24 from 4:00-5:00 p.m. in Room #26. This is an opportunity for parents to ask questions, share ideas, voice concerns, etc. I look forward to seeing you around school. As always, please stop by or call me if you have questions or a need to discuss something.
