Communities In Schools works to support and inspire students so that they can succeed in school, graduate, and be prepared for life! Through community resources and services, CIS addresses the barriers that get in the way of success and offers enriching opportunities to promote a positive school experience for each student. CIS literally brings the community into the school in order to surround students with whatever they need to be successful in school. We coordinate a wealth of services including tutoring, mentoring, food assistance, health services, Girls on the Run, social opportunities, winter clothing, mental health counseling, etc. CIS at King Westwood is here to help all students start strong in school and keep moving forward toward High School graduation.
Last year 9,310 Kalamazoo Public Schools students benefited from CIS services, thanks to the help of over 90 community partners.
