This course provides a balanced literacy program to guide students to become proficient readers and writers, and help them learn to speak and listen effectively. Students will demonstrate understanding of figurative language and nuances in word meanings, analyze central ideas and themes, and make logical inferences to understand both informational and narrative text. Students will concentrate on the writing process with a focus on narrative, argumentative, and informational writing.
