A new principal was appointed for Lincoln International Studies School at the Kalamazoo Schools Board of Education meeting on April 6, 2023.
Dionna Roberts, a long time Winchell teacher and literacy coach, was appointed the principal of Lincoln International Studies School. Kelly Corrigan, the longtime principal of Indian Prairie Elementary, was named the principal of Winchell Elementary School. They will begin their new positions at the start of the 2023-24 school year.
Roberts has worked for Kalamazoo Public Schools for 20 years, including 13 years at Northeastern Elementary School, five years at Winchell, and three years as a district literacy coach.
She also is an adjunct faculty member at Western Michigan University in the Department of Special Education and Literacy Studies, and a literacy coach with the nonprofit KYD Network.
Roberts is a board member of Read and Write Kalamazoo and the Michigan Reading Association. She is co-founder of the Art of Planting Little Free Libraries and a member of the Society for Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators and the Kalamazoo Education Association.
Roberts earned bachelor’s degree in elementary education and a master’s in the Art of Teaching and a master’s in educational leadership, all from WMU.
Current principal Jeremy Andrick will be taking a position with another school district.
