EFA Accepting Grant Applications

Students, Educators Eligible for Grants

Education For the Arts annually offers more than $150,000 in Arts Education Grants to schools, teachers/artists, and students. The application process for 2018 is currently open.

Grant applications can be found at kresa.egrant.net. Eligible applicants must create an account, select the appropriate grant application listed under “opportunities,” and then complete and submit applications electronically by the appropriate deadline. All applications must be completed and submitted online.

Eligible students’ legal residence must be within one of the nine local districts serviced by Kalamazoo RESA.

Education For the Arts is the countywide arts program administered by the Kalamazoo Regional Educational Service Agency. It provides arts programming and support to students across Kalamazoo County.

The available grants and their deadlines are:

Irving S. Gilmore Student Arts Scholarships: These scholarships are available to eligible K-12 Kalamazoo County students for artistic education and enrichment beyond the classroom. Funds for the 2018-2019 school year will be awarded for private arts instruction, classes at art institutions or summer arts camps, and other arts-related activities. All intermediate and advanced level applicants must also upload a work sample to be reviewed by the grant panelists. Deadline: 11:59 p.m. on Jan. 25, 2018.

Irving S. Gilmore Student Artistic Equipment Program: Scholarships give eligible, advanced-level Kalamazoo County students access to equipment that is either not available through rental programs or is prohibitively expensive to purchase. All applicants must upload a work sample to be reviewed. Deadline: 11:59 p.m. on Feb. 22, 2018.

EFA Artistic Project Grants for Classrooms: Grants are available to eligible Kalamazoo County schools to help enhance and expand arts education curriculum, classroom projects and extracurricular activities through workshops, artist residencies, and field trips to performances and exhibitions. Deadline: 11:59 p.m. March 22, 2018.

EFA Artistic Development Grants for Educators: Grants are available to eligible EFA Teaching Artists as well as Kalamazoo County arts teachers and educators who integrate the arts into core curriculum. This program grants educators the opportunity to develop their own artistic abilities and knowledge base through artist retreats, workshops, and mentorships. Deadline: 11:59 p.m. March 22, 2018.
