THE FALL SPORTS BANQUET IS SCHEDULED FOR 10/26/11 FROM 6:30-8:00 PM. IT IS A DESSERT BANQUET. PARENTS ARE ENCOURAGED TO BRING A DESSERT.

Rules and Expectations for athletes are as follows:
- Team objectives for the season
- knowledge/rules/strategy
- fitness
- physical skill development
- team unity
- sportsmanship and fairness
- Captains
- All 8th grade students who ran cross country last year will be made captains (unless otherwise prohibited due to conduct/GPA
- Expectations of athletes
- academic grade point of 2.0 or higher
- academics come first—can be excused from practice for academic concerns/needs (tutoring, etc) with note from parent or teacher.
- attendance/punctuality in school and at practice/meets
- attitude and effort “make an effort, not an excuse”
- communicate to coaches- absence, ill, injured, etc.—must have a note from teacher or parent to be excused from practice
- If unexcused to practice—will not run in meets
- Nutrition- Eat lunch—bring a snack and water to practice/meets
- Injuries-must stretch to prevent injuries
- Dress appropriately—appropriate shoes and clothing to prevent injuries

- Transportation- please be on time to pick up your child
- athlete and team support
- sportsmanship as spectators toward officials, our team and opposing team

As leaders of the team, these are the responsibilities of the Captains:
- Maintain a grade point of 2.0 or higher
- Always give 100%: be prepared, give best effort
- Attend school, practice and meets regularly and be early
- Always demonstrate good sportsmanship to everyone
- Encourage positive behavior within the team
- Lead team warm-up/cool-down
- Gather equipment to take to practice and meets
- Fill water jug and take to practice and meets
- Take first aid kits to meets
- Check locker rooms at beginning and end of practice and make sure doors are locked.

The following paperwork must be on file before athletes can practice/compete officially with the team:
-$15 insurance fee
-emergency medical form on file in the last year (can be received from Coach Smith, picked up in the office at Maple Street or will be posted online soon).
-physical form (any form from MD will do)

Practice schedule is subject to change, but coach will inform players first. Practice will be cancelled if Thunder and Lightening are spotted, but we will practice in all other weather, so dress accordingly.
NEW MEET INFORMATION: Students will take the bus to meets from Maple Street Middle School. Students are to report outside the gym at 2:30 pm (just like on practice days). Students are responsible for bringing their uniforms and water bottles. Captains to grab the orange water cooler from Ms. Melvin's (Chockley's) office and fill it with water.
PARENTS: ARE YOU COMING TO THE MEET? Please see Coach Smith to sign up to bring snack -- two parents should bring snack for each meet.
