KALPA is the system KPS uses to track the Professional Development hours for each individual teacher and administrator throughout the district. Building and district level PD is entered into the system by the Professional Development office. Once those sessions are in the system, staff can navigate the system and add those sessions to their personal plan. At the end of every school year, the Professional Development office submits each teacher's plan to the state.

KPS provides and tracks professional development for teachers and administrators. There are two major types of PD offered: building/staff and district.

Building or staff PD happens on-site in  the teachers' or administrators' assigned building. It is site-specific, providing development according to the needs of the staff at that location.

District PD is content-specific and is divided by grade or content area.

Middle and high school Technical Education, Industrial Tech. Education, and Career and Tech. Education teachers will meet in room 208 at Kalamazoo Central High School.

Middle School Counselors will meet in room 212 at Kalamazoo Central High School.

Jump Start/All Giants Achieve teachers will meet in room 215 at Kalamazoo Central High School.

Family and Consumer Science/Life Skills teachers will meet in room D-4 at Loy Norrix.

Elementary Music teachers will meet in the Music Room at Woodward.

Secondary Music teachers will meet in the Choir and Instrumental rooms at Loy Norrix.
